Abstract

Consumption is a human activity to fulfill their wants or needs in order to achieve their own satisfaction. Consumption by humans can be in the form of objects that support their existence, such as food and shelter. In today's digital era, there is a shift and consumption priority made by some people. Where there are those who prioritize their consumption activities on internet data and sacrifice the needs that are actually more needed. Therefore, this research is important to do to find out how consumption should be done and how the concept of consumption in an Islamic perspective, so that the consumption activities carried out will be in accordance with their nature. This research uses qualitative research with literature study method which is processed from various sources, both books, journals, and other documents. The results of the study found that the concept of consumption in Islam is very different from conventional consumption. In Islam consumption is based on needs not desires and must be in accordance with religious guidelines. Consumption of Islam also guides not to apply israf, ibdzar, and prioritize the principle of moderation. Islam also introduces a priority scale in consumption which includes; dlaruriyat, hajjiyat, and tahsiniyat and all consumption activities must be based on benefit.
